Girl Geek Dinner Review: Thursday 17th September
What a great night last week's dinner was!
We had a good turnout of Girl Geeks, two fantastic speakers and some great prizes.
I want to say a huge Thank You to Patrick Van Rinsvelt and Thea Myers for giving us two awesome presentations on Continuous Service Delivery and Usability. They were right on the money in regards to covering topics that all of us deal with and can learn from, and we were shown a great selection of tools that I'm sure we'll all be busy playing with over the coming weeks! Also thank you to Jo Newcombe-Cook who made all of our brains work with the famous women name game which was pretty tricky but we got most of them paired up by the end of the night.
It was great to catch up with the Girl Geeks of Tauranga, and Patrick too of course! Patrick told me at the end of the night that he was keen to come along again as his wife's 'date' as he had a good evening with us. Just so you know - guys you're more than welcome to attend our girl geek dinners, but the deal is that you have to come along as a 'date' of another girl geek, and girls - as good for the ego as it is to have multiple 'dates', you're only allowed to bring one 'date' to each dinner! So guy geeks of Tauranga, if you're enticed by one of our speakers or want to come along and see what it's all about, just follow the rules and you're more than welcome (and it's not mandatory to wear pink!).
A big thank you to our sponsor of this month's dinner: Western Bay of Plenty ICT Cluster, and a thank you to Microsoft for their continued support.
And a final thank you to the wonderful companies and individuals who support Girl Geek Dinners by donating spot prizes and goody bag items.
I look forward to seeing you all at the next dinner, which will be planned for mid-end of January (to avoid the crazy Christmas season!).
